Continuing the 20th anniversary celebrations of Pokémon, the XY Evolutions TCG set is an exciting and special one. It’s a sixth generation set of playing cards but is essentially a modern reissue of the original base set from 1999. The firm has marked the launch with a 90s style overhaul of the Pokémon TCG website so you should definitely check it out here and click ‘Back to the past’. “The Pokémon brand launched in the ’90s with the introduction of the first video games and quickly became a global sensation,” said J.C. Smith, director of consumer marketing at The Pokémon Company International. “As we celebrate our 20th year and introduce the Pokémon TCG: XY—Evolutions expansion, this promotional website was an extremely fun project to develop for our fans. Pokémon TCG XY Evolutions packs and bundles
The reason why this expansion pack is so special is that the cards are updated versions of the very first Pokémon cards. XY Evolutions includes more than 100 cards, 12 new Pokémon-EX cards – including five Mega Evolution Pokémon such as Charizard – and four new Pokémon Break cards. As usual there are various ways of buying Pokémon trading cards with options such as individual cards, booster packs and even Elite Trainer boxes. We’ve outlined them below in summary. XY Evolutions booster pack
A booster pack is the regular way of buying Pokémon trading cards and each comes with 10 random cards inside. You can buy bundles of booster packs to make it better value.
XY Evolutions themes decks
There are two themed decks (above) for XY Evolutions which come with 60 pre-prepared cards to get you going with competitive play rather than collection. They are Pikachu and Mewtwo and contains duplicate Pokémon as well as other playing cards.
XY Evolutions Elite Trainer Box
The Elite Trainer Box (below) is a good one to go for If you want to collect and play because it contains eight booster packs, 65 card sleeves for your deck, 45 Pokemon Energy cards, a player’s guide to the XY Evolutions expansion, 6 damage counter dice, 1 flip coin, 2 acrylic condition markers and a collector’s box to hold everything. You can get it in Charizard or Blastoise versions.
XY Evolutions blister packs
The blister packs come on their own or as bundles of two or three. They are essentially a booster pack with an additional promo card (such as Weezing) which you can see, as well as a special flip coin.

The official comment is that the new set will be available from ‘ participating stores and hobby shops’ but that’s not helpful.
